EPA Approves SONO Disinfecting Wipes and SONO Ultrasound Wipes For 2019-nCoV

Murrieta, Calif. (February 13, 2020) — SONO Disinfecting Wipes and SONO Ultrasound Wipes have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses such as the 2019-nCOV on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, SONO Disinfecting Wipes and SONO Ultrasound Wipes can be used against 2019-nCoV when used in accordance with the directions for use against Human Coronavirus on hard, non-porous surfaces.

Additionally, the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Center for Biocide Chemistries (CBC) has compiled a list of products that have been pre-approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use against emerging enveloped viral pathogens and can be used during the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak.

SONO Disinfecting Wipes and SONO Ultrasound Wipes can be found prominently at the bottom of the CBC list here: https://biocides.americanchemistry.com/CBC_Coronavirus_ProductList.pdf

The disinfection process for 2019-nCoV is divided into three steps: (1) Wipe the surface until it is visibly wet with the wipe solution. (2) Maintain a wet surface for at least 4 minutes, using multiple wipes if needed. (3) Allow to air dry.

“Most people don’t realize the difference between cleaning and disinfecting,” Arman Semerjian, President and CEO of Advanced Ultrasound Solutions, Inc., said. “Cleaning and Sanitizing can be done quickly, but disinfecting requires 1 to 10 minutes to allow the formula to eliminate the underlying bacterial and viral threats. This is common on most products in the industry today. It’s not possible to speed up that process without adding harsh chemicals than can damage the treated surfaces and risk skin irritation, requiring the use of gloves. While we continue to develop new technologies that can provide faster disinfection times without compromising compatibility and safety, our current formulation provides the best efficacy.”

So what’s unique to our wipes is that our formula has been specifically engineered to be sensitive to the delicate instruments our doctors and nurses use without compromising the rigorous healthcare standards we deserve.

When the first case of 2019-nCOV reached the United States, SONO inventory on all channels immediately sold out. We have increased our production to meet the demands of our customers on both the healthcare and consumer business lines.

SONO Disinfecting Wipes are sold in canisters and resealable soft packages.Including our best selling travel packs.

The wipes are effective for daily use, but were first widely adopted by hospitals to disinfect ultrasound equipment and other devices that routinely come in contact with multiple drug-resistant viruses and bacteria.

Medical facilities also use SONO wipes to disinfect patient rooms and common areas.
